Arbors & Pergolas

This deck was built this year using Treated decking and railing with a Pergola built over the entire deck. You may have seen a pergola but weren’t exactly sure what they were called. A pergola is similar to a gazebo. The difference is, a pergola doesn’t have the full roof like a gazebo, and you can’t really enclose it with screens, It’s just for partial shade or the aesthetics of it. Pergolas are sometimes called arbors or trellises. They may not be as functional as a gazebo, but man do they look good!

Because it gives some shade, you can easily place some outdoor furniture underneath there and make it a spot for some top quality chilling time. Or if you have a hot tub on your deck now, or will be adding one in the near future, a pergola could be a good way to complement it. They can certainly give your outdoor living area a boost!

Pergolas offer many different applications and functionality. They can be designed and built to create wonderful cool shade and relief from the hot sun, or a beautifully designed backyard sanctuary – where the pergola can support a variety of plants, and hanging baskets.

Pressure Treated Wood Decking Materials

Pressure treated wood is the most common wood decking material because it is less expensive than cedar or redwood and it last for about 15 years, with staining and sealing and regular maintenance even longer.
